Maria Lucia was blended by Luciano Meirelles, in honor of his late Mother. It took 12 years before
he "dared to blend something inspired by my mother”. The artwork used was drawn by Luciano's oldest daughter, the story goes, she had a dream of a woman but was unsure who she was. Upon waking, she drew a picture of her, and when Luciano saw the drawing next to photos of his Mother, he immediately saw the resemblance.
