The tobacco for this medium to full bodied cigar is grown in the fields of Mirebalais, which is located in Plateau Central of Haiti and is known for its rich, fertile soils. The cigar is named after the Cacique (Chief) of the Xaragua people, who were part of the Tainos: the first inhabitants of the island of Hispaniola.

The Bohekio brand was established in 2015. Their Bohekio cigar is considered the first ever premium cigar to be produced in Haiti using tobacco grown in this island nation located in the Caribbean. The brand is the creation of four close friends who loved cigars. The friends wanted to produce cigars
