At the time, Macanudo cigars were produced in Jamaica, However, in 2000, General Cigar moved production of the cigars to the Dominican Republic. That facility is located in Santiago, in the north-central part of the country.

Macanudo cigars were first developed under the creative leadership of Ramon Cifuentes in 1971. Its origins started off as a Jamaican brand by the makers of Cuban Punch and branched off as its own. Today, it is produced and manufactured by General Cigar Company in the Dominican Republic. These premium
