New Fat Padrón Blacks Arriving This Fall

Picture of New Fat Padrón Blacks Arriving This Fall

The Padrón family tends to be cautious when releasing new products, so each new launch is considered a significant event. This fall, the brand will introduce the Padrón PB-99, an extension of the Padrón Black line. Known for their bold strength, these cigars are generally more potente than most other Padrón offerings.

The PB-99 will be available in both maduro and natural styles, featuring a length of 6 3/4 inches and a 60 ring gauge. Crafted by hand in Nicaragua with Nicaraguan tobacco, they are expected to retail at $44, and come in a box of 10 sticks, with shipping anticipated in September. Unlike many other Padróns, these are round cigars, not box-pressed, aligning with the style of the Padrón Black series.

The number 99 in the name commemorates what would have been José Orlando Padrón’s 99th birthday. He founded Padrón Cigars in Miami in 1964 and passed away in 2017. The Padrón Black line is a smaller, less widely known part of the company's portfolio, and intriguingly, it's not listed on the official website. The line was launched in 2015, beginning with the 89, originally created for a cigar shop event and later offered as a TAA exclusive in 2019.

These cigars have been included in sampler packs distributed by Cigar Rights of America, but currently, the only accessible Padrón Black in retail stores is the PB-97, a torpedo shape. This model is the only Padrón Black size that has been reviewed so far, earning a solid 93 points in both natural and maduro versions during a January tasting by Cigar Insider.
